STEPHEN MARLAND
Stephen was born in Ashton under Lyne, but has lived in Stockport for over 40 years. He is a retired photography lecturer at Manchester School of Art. He has worked as a photographer for many years.
Stephen Marland's recent exhibition called 'Night On Earth' is being held above the Produce Hall in Market Place, Stockport and starts 31st October until 9th November 2017.
Over the years he has had many projects and exhibitions, but he felt it was the right time to ‘explore my adopted hometown at night.’
“Through my Night on Earth photographs I have attempted to capture something of the mysteries of that dark, often unseen, urban world. Untold stories, tricks of light and the slight visceral thrill one feels walking alone on quiet streets."
“We can impose our own narrative on a shadowy featureless scene. Creating a unique set of images that reflect the divers architecture and atmosphere of the town.
My Comments
I was away when Steve did his talk, but I have taken a look at the links (below) to try and understand his way of working. He lives in my local town so I recognise the images he has taken for his exhibition. (described above)
